HOLDEN COUNCIL ON AGING
Senior Van Subcommittee
Tuesday, July 10, 2007
Conference Room - Senior Center
Present: Richard Mansfield; Louise Charbonneau; Cheryl Owoc; Albert Ferron; Maureen Buffone
The meeting was called to order at 8:05 a.m. by Chairman Mansfield.
Jacquie Kelly put together a draft fund raising letter that was distributed to the Board members. It will target a few dozen merchants to sign up for several years and will go out in early September with follow-up visits in late September and early October. It is estimated that $28,000 annually will be needed to run the part-time van. Brian Bullock found $18,000 for this fiscal year, and $10,000 will need to be raised. The cost to run the WRTA van is $34,000 annually, plus maintenance. Al suggested adding language to the letter showing that there is a need for the additional van by number of rides refused and where the rides would have been going (most of which were medical appointments to Worcester). Rick thought from a business stand point, the businesses should be made aware that they will be promoting their
businesses, and at the same time are being given an opportunity to assist Holden Seniors (good for the business, good for the Town). There will be a limited amount of space available for advertising on the outside of the van. Rick Mansfield will be signing the letter as Chairman of the Holden Council on Aging.
A motion to adjourn was made and seconded. Meeting adjourned at 9:05 a.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Maureen Buffone
